In one of our discussions, and moments of meditation with God, my wife made a very profound comment that lingered in my mind. She mentioned that the word repent (repentance) does not seem to be in many people’s vocabulary these days. After coming into immediate agreement with her, I decided to research these words of penance.
As a result of my research, I found that the word repentance is mentioned 26 times in the Bible. Moreover, repent/repented is mentioned 105 times in the Bible. I also found that the real meaning of these words has eternal consequences.
Jesus said in Luke 13:3, “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” In these last days, perhaps, this may be the right time for many to understand the real meaning of repent, and make a change before it is too late. The Bible says in Matthew 3:2, “….Repent ye: for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Speaking of heaven, the Apostle John wrote in Revelation 21:27, “And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” -Cornelius Duncan
