Janet Jackson, the singer and sister of late pop megastar, Michael Jackson, gave a pretty extraordinary speech at the recent Billboard Music Awards.
Collecting the ICON award, the successful singer, who has enjoyed a career spanning some four decades, urged those in attendance to seek God amid the chaos of the entertainment industry.
“This is also a moment when our public discourse is loud and harsh,” Jackson said. “My prayer is that weary of such noise, we turn back to the source of all calmness. That source is God. Everything we lack, God has in abundance: compassion, sensitivity, patience and a boundless love.”
