Kentucky’s mask mandate goes into effect, but attorney general seeks ruling on legality

FRANKFORT — Despite an effort to derail it by state Attorney General Daniel Cameron, Gov. Andy Beshear’s order to mandate masks in Kentucky went into effect at 5 p.m. Friday.

Beshear signed the executive order Thursday in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, which has been on the rise in the state.

Cameron filed a motion Friday afternoon seeking a ruling on whether Beshear’s order violated a judicial restraining order filed the previous day, which could put the mask mandate’s ultimate fate in doubt.
