WASHINGTON: For the first time in three years the Navy has sent three ships – including two destroyers – into the Black Sea, just days after President Biden confronted Vladimir Putin about Russian policy.

The move is sure to be read by Moscow as a statement of intent as the United States looks to confront Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine, attempts to assassinate political rivals and reformers at home, and continuing acts of violence against Russians in NATO countries, as well as the persistent threats Vladimir Putin’s regime has made against NATO countries.

The USS Porter entered the Black Sea this morning, less than a week after USS Donald Cook and the replenishment oiler USNS Laramie entered the waterway to start running through a series of exercises with NATO allies. Russia reacted promptly, moving a Bastion missile defense system into position in Crimea and making a show by running virtual drills, according to Russian state media.

A longtime adviser to former President Donald Trump said he will be “actively involved” in Republican Party politics going forward.

“The president continues to have enormous support and approval among Republican primary voters. He continues to have hundreds of millions of dollars in his campaign account, which he can utilize. And he will continue to be actively involved in recruiting candidates and holding elected officials accountable for their votes,” Corey Lewandowski, a former Trump campaign manager, told Fox News on Thursday.

Lewandowski, who managed Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, said Trump will not form a separate party after there were rumors and reports saying he could start his own “Patriot Party.”

Our government rulers are NOT giving up their newfound powerExclusive: Sean Harshey predicts loss of privacy and new controls will only become more intrusiveJACK CASHILL

As individual nations and airlines are beginning to require proof of COVID-19 vaccination, it is only a matter of time before it is a requirement for all international travel, and then for domestic air travel. Just as airport metal detectors were replaced by full-body scans with various items of clothing removed and your personal items rummaged through by a government official, losses of privacy and increases in government control only become more intrusive with time. Bureaucrats always think up reasons to increase their power, which necessarily comes at the expense of everyone’s freedom and privacy.

After 45 Republicans supported a motion declaring a Senate trial for Donald Trump is unconstitutional because the objective of impeachment is to remove a president, Democrats realized they don’t have the 67 votes needed to convict.

Already, they appear to be exploring alternatives.

Axios reported Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia and Republican Susan Collins of Maine are discussing a censure resolution along with other colleagues.

Collins was one of five Republicans senators who voted Tuesday against the resolution of Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., to declare the trial unconstitutional.
