US military raises Europe threat level to ‘potential imminent crisis:’ report

The U.S. European Command (EUCOM) raised its threat levels in Europe to a “potential imminent crisis” this week as fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces has escalated in recent days and additional Russian troops are deploying to the region. The Russian troop movements could serve as an early test of President Joe Biden’s commitment to Ukraine.

According to the New York Times, Gen. Tod D. Wolters, the head of U.S. European Command declared a “potential imminent crisis,” which is the highest potential watch level. The command raised the watch level after four Ukrainian troops were killed in recent fighting in the Donetsk region. EUCOM also raised the warning after Russian troops deployed to the border region between Russia and Ukraine for an apparent set of military drills but failed to leave after the drills concluded on March 23.

Mandatory-mask pusher nearly passes out while wearing mask

‘Began taking deep breaths and taking long pauses between words’

A video shows a masked school board member at a meeting of the trustees for Idaho Falls District 91 gasping for air while arguing that the school district should continue to mandate mask-wearing.

The Red State Nation blog said it was Trustee Elizabeth Cogliati who was forced to take long pauses between words as she argued for the masks.

The report noted there’s no official evidence that a mask reduces oxygen levels, but “when you wear a mask, particularly if you have an N95 mask, it can make you feel like it is more difficult to catch your breath.”

“A mask offers some resistance to the usual way of breathing, making it seem more difficult to catch your breath. The feeling is more a psychological one than a physical problem with breathing, according to medical personnel,” the report said.

Warning Signs: This Government Is Rapidly Moving America to Socialism

There are many warnings that progressive policies could rapidly move America towards socialism and away from certain liberties and a free market society. These signals of socialist-like moves became louder as Democrats won the White House and majorities in both houses of Congress.

In Socialists Don’t Sleep, Cheryl Chumley literally wrote the book on these threats. She sees the signs in the new administration, especially President Biden taking unilateral control rapidly through executive orders.

Biden’s Executive Order Signing is a Sign

Chumley told CBN News, “If one marker of Socialism is an overburdensome, overreaching government, then a president who spends his first couple of weeks in office doing nothing but signing executive orders is certainly advancing Socialist principles.”

Financial Issues” radio and TV host Dan Celia pointed out how backers of Socialism try to strike quickly because it’s often unpopular with the people.

“Any time Socialism has entered into a government, an economy, it moved very quickly,” Celia asserted. “And I got to tell you, there are things moving in lightning speed right now. They have to move fast because they can’t allow anybody to realize it and try to correct it.”

Socialists Strike Quickly: Keystone Pipeline Killed First Thing

Both Chumley and Celia see this in Biden’s early move to immediately stop the Keystone pipeline project, part of a broader plan to dominate the energy sector.

Celia stated, “They did it – again – rapid pace, no explanation, no legislation, no accountability from the state-run media.”

“You have this shuttering of a free market venture that employed up to 11,000 people,” Chumley commented. “And then on the other hand, you have a government takeover using tax dollars of a sector that was being developed in the private sector. So look at that. That’s pure Socialism right there.”

Celia saw killing the pipeline as President Biden sending an immediate message about opposing fossil fuels to his most radical supporters: “Saying to the Far Left ‘we’re going to do what President Obama tried to do, and we’re just going to keep it in the ground. We don’t want any oil. We don’t want oil traveling. We don’t want any fossil fuel.”

Socialists Not Usually Free Speech Fans

On another front, Celia directly connects the silencing, censoring, and de-platforming of the Right with Socialist thinking.

“That should have everybody very, very scared,” Celia warned. “Taking away free speech unless you’re Far Left: if they are willing to come out of the chute attacking that now, what’s in store?”

Chumley detects Socialism behind moves like imposing the Equality Act. It will take power from parents and religious believers and give it to the LGBTQ community and government authorities.

It’s being called “the most controversial cold case mystery in the history of biblical scholarship” involving possibly “the most significant archaeological discovery of all time.”

New research is shining fresh light on what may have been the oldest portion of the Bible ever found, perhaps Moses’ own copy of Deuteronomy, a version that was initially dismissed as a forgery.

Now COVID threatens Americans with double-taxation

The case against protecting remote workers from pandemic-related tax changes was never a strong one. With the passage of the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act, it’s gotten even weaker.

Since early on in the pandemic, I’ve been warning (over and over and over and over) about the need for Congress to address how states handle the tax treatment of remote-working Americans. The number of Americans potentially subject to higher tax bills or even double taxation because they’re now working from home and no longer crossing state lines can be measured in the millions. Unfortunately, with the earliest state tax deadlines less than a month away, time is running out for Congress to act.

As a result of the pandemic, many Americans switched to remote work for long periods of time in 2020. Many employees that normally cross state lines to an office (as is common in large multi-state metro areas) but instead worked from home last year may find that the state in which their office is located still expects them to pay taxes as if nothing had changed. This also opens up the possibility of double taxation, as both the resident’s home state and their prior work location’s state could allege that the work was done in that state.

States pursuing these tax bills counter that they simply lack the room in their budgets to provide relief from these assessments. Never mind that it was often the states making this argument that promulgated special rules ensuring that workers following pandemic guidelines and working from home couldn’t escape their tax webs.

One of the most egregious examples of states’ revenue sickness came when New York, consistently one of the most aggressive states when it comes to subjecting nonresidents to its high tax rates, even required medical workers who volunteered to travel to New York City when the city was a COVID hotspot to pay New York income taxes for the time they worked there. When asked why the state was choosing this approach, Governor Andrew Cuomo responded that the state was not “in a position to offer any subsidies right now.”

Well, now they are. Even as the fiscal situation of many states improved dramatically over the course of last year, Congress still decided to go ahead with huge amounts of funding for state and local governments. States that begged for federal aid when they were anticipating overall revenue decreases of 8 percent or more instead saw an average revenue decrease of just 0.4 percent.

After a gun-boat tour Friday of the Rio Grande and visits to overwhelmed border facilities amid the migrant surge, a delegation of 19 Republican senators expressed outrage, accusing President Biden of painting a false picture of the situation while blocking media from direct access.

“It’s time to let the press in to see what is happening and the tragedy that this administration has brought on the American people,” said Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., at a news conference with the border river in the background.
